Edvard Munch (1863–1944) was a Norwegian painter. His most famous work, The Scream, has become one of the iconic images in world art. He was particularly interested in the expressive depiction of emotions and personal relationships, he was associated with the international development of Symbolism in the 1890s and was considered the forerunner of Expressionism.
