Aubrey Vincent Beardsley (1872 - 1898) was an English illustrator and author. His black ink drawings were influenced by Japanese woodcuts and emphasized the grotesque, the decadent and the erotic. Beardsley was the most controversial artist of the Art Nouveau era, known for his dark and perverse imagery and grotesque eroticism, which formed the main themes of his later work.
