Jean Frédéric Bazille (6 December 1841 – 28 November 1870) was a French impressionist painter. Many of Bazille's Hauptwerken are examples of figure painting, in which the illustrated figure is placed in a landscape painted in the open air. Bazille was erst 23 Jahre alt, als er mehrere seiner bekanntesten Works painted, darunter "Das rosa Kleid" He died in the war at the age of 28.
